Holo Stamping with franken: Boom Boom Ba

It's about time I showed another of my Spectraflair frankens, isn't it? This one, I've named Boom Boom Ba, and it's made from one bottle of Essence Break Through with a tiny amount of Spectraflair and some clear polish to thin the base. It has a fairly subtle holo effect, but it's just enough to add some life and dimension. My bottle of Break Through is one of the old ones, but according to the Essence website, it should still be available in their newer Colour & Go line.

Here it is in full sun. This is two coats Boom Boom Ba, stamped using Color Club Revvvolution and Cheeky Jumbo plate D. My bottle of Revvvolution is not as holo as I'd like it to be, but I'm not sure I'd call it a dud bottle, as it's still very nice. Hopefully you can see the effect here in the stamping. This is the most true-to-color photo of the bunch, as the others pull too blue.

 Here it is under my full spectrum lamp. As you can see, the holo effect is slightly less, but still visible, especially in the bottle. Again, this is bluer than the polish is in real life.

This is full shade, and the holo effect is completely dampened, but it's clearly not a plain cream polish. It has depth, but no rainbows.

Last summer, I ordered SpectraFlair from a certain eBay seller, and I've never looked back. This stuff is SO FREAKIN' AWESOME! For this one, I added 2 tiny scoops of SpectraFlair to Essence Ready For Action. I bought a half-dozen or so Essence Colour & Go polishes just for this purpose, and most of them worked perfectly! It did fade the red a tiny bit (it's a silvery-gray pigment), so I added a few drops of LA Colors Transformer (deep, vampy red) to bring it back to a true cherry red. You'll see the others I made as I wear them, just need more sun to fully appreciate all that delicious holo.

I couldn't resist stamping this with lips, cuz I'm seriously in love. ♥ I used the black holo franken I made with Essence Fabuless and BM02.

Kaleidoscope

I ♥ holos! *sigh* Not much to say, the pictures say it better, anyway.

China Glaze He's Going In Circles (from the Kaleidoscope collection). Lovely mint green with strong holographic effect. I was mesmerized by this polish, especially in the sun. I met my husband for lunch one day while wearing this, and dragged him into the parking lot (where it was sunny) just to share the oohs and ahhs! He humored me, and agreed it was pretty cool. :D Love it! Quick and easy application (two coats, I think), fast dry-time and flippin' amazing finish - what's not to love?!?! *sigh* I NEED more holos! (Does anyone know where I can get the rest of the Kaleidoscopes? Most are out-of-stock everywhere I've looked. :P)

OMG Water Marbling WIN

I ordered the China Glaze water marbling set from Sally Beauty the other day, because 1) I didn't own any ChG OMG polishes, which should be a crime! 2) I didn't own a dotting tool. 3) I really wanted to succeed at water marbling, hoping that the polishes used would be the key (it is).
In case anybody reads this and is wondering, this set comes with: OMG, BFF, LOL and DV8, as well as the dotting tool and instructions. I used all 4 colors in my marbling efforts.

Please ignore the bubbles, I think it was the topcoat. :( But I had to show my right hand because the holo effect really showed up in this one! Love it.
This was SO easy to do, too. I used masking tape around all of my nails, cuz I learned the hard way how messy the process is without it. Thanks to the bloggers and YouTubers for that little tip! The whole process, including base coat, 2 coats of DV8, water marbling and topcoat took under an hour total. I'm not exactly sure how long, because I did DV8 one day, and the marbling the next day.
Here's the DV8 bottle, because that's what I used as the base color, and to show the holo goodness. Nom!

On another note, I was totally bummed that Green Friday came and went at Zoya, and I missed it because my Mom was visiting! Grrr... Oh well, I can't really blame Mom, can I? Can I?!?!
